Where to get the best sweet brunch in Barcelona

Last week I was in Barcelona. It wasn’t the first time I visited, so I didn’t have to do all the touristy things anymore. I believe this is the best city trip, where you don’t have to visit all the sights in a short amount of time. In just a few days there is only so much you can accomplish, and so I was there to enjoy the city vibes and the spring weather. And to have brunch. Having been in Barcelona I can say it’s filled with great spots. When I’m traveling I enjoy finding the perfect cappuccino, but after this trip I might also start looking for and trying the best sweet brunches. Here are three tips for breakfast and brunch restaurants in Barcelona.

EatMyTrip Brunch and Bakery Barcelona

I went here on my first morning in the city. The wait was about 15 minutes for a table. There were so many options on the menu, savory and sweet. I am a big fan of pancakes, and since the pancakes at EatMyTrip looked incredible (yes, they had pictures) I ordered the Pavlova kind. “With creme anglaise in fused with orange & vanilla, merengues, forest berries compote & fresh fruits”. And I have to say, these pancakes were absolutely delicious. The pancakes were fluffy, the fruit was fresh, just the right amount of creme and compote. I enjoyed every bite! Maybe because I was so amazed by how they looked I forgot to take a picture. Go to the EatMyTrip website and you’ll see what I mean.

Brunch & Cake

On my last day I went to another brunch spot that I had already visited in October 2023. Before my trip my friend reminded me of the time we had food at Brunch & Cake. Their slogan is “In grandmother we trust”. They say they cook from the heart, like your grandmother would do. There are three cafes in Barcelona, but the one we went to is located at a very nice small garden square, where they have an outside terrace. I decided it was worth a second visit. It was a bit of a wait before a table was ready, but the French toast with Nutella made up for that. I actually almost never order French toast, but I figured I could try something different than pancakes. And because I was enjoying my sweet brunch streak so much I thought I would keep it going. The toast didn’t come with Nutella, but when I asked the waiter if it was better with and he said absolutely, I thought why not? It was an incredible brunch dish. Together with a fresh orange juice and a cappuccino after I had the perfect morning.

Billy Brunch

When I was in Barcelona last October I went to Billy Brunch with a friend. They have five cafes throughout the city. I had read about it in a blog and had put it on my list to try. I was actually on my way to a different place when I passed a Billy cafe. Because it was such a good experience the first time I decided to go there instead. And it did not disappoint this time either. The people working there are very friendly and welcoming and the vibe is very chill. Since it’s a popular place I had to wait a little bit for a table. After a wait of about 20 minutes they seated me at the counter, which for me is a fine spot when you’re by yourself. Once again I chose to go for something sweet and ended up ordering pancakes (again) with syrup and fresh fruit. I also had a big mug of cappuccino, which was excellent. When you’re in Barcelona make sure to stop by Billy’s.

Don’t miss out on these great cafes for brunch. Besides their excellent sweet dishes you can enjoy good cappuccinos, fresh juices and a speedy service. Staff are very friendly, there is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. And also, if you don’t speak Spanish you’ll have no problems in these places.

Zischa

I love traveling, exploring the world, meeting new people, festivals in summer, enjoying good wine with my friends and writing and sharing my thoughts with the world.
